Even after Steve Jobs stated that “Java’s not worth building into the iPhone”, it seems that Apple reconsidered the fact that the iPhone is not really a business phone and agreed to give it some entertainment functions. Furthermore, you should know that Apple thought about embedding Java compatibility into the iPhone even before launching it on the market.
This is proved by the ARM11 family processor running at speeds up to 667 MHz that is compatible with Java accelerated engine Jazelle. Jazelle is a technology that executes the Java bytecode directly in hardware on many ARM microprocessors. It is able to achieve a similar high peak performance to software compilation techniques, with fast start-up and smooth execution in a small memory footprint. Jazelle also enables multitasking, which means that users will be able to run multiple Java applications and games in the background with minimal overhead.

Samsung D880 will be available for a retail price of about $600.
Twice phone from Samsung is Samsung SGH-J750, available now exclusively via M1, a leading mobile communications provider in Singapore. The handset is free for those who make a two-year contract with M1 and comes with features like a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and microSD card slot. It’s not a great device, but a normal one created for those who want an affordable mobile phone.
Another slider that Samsung offers this winter is the fashionable L600, coming in pink and violet and targeting girls and women. The slider is not a high-end phone (it doesn’t have 3G performances for example), but its smooth design will surely attract ladies. Samsung L600 provides Bluetooth and USB connectivity as well as GPRS and EDGE technology. A 2-megapixel camera can offer medium quality photos while the music player can support a large number of media files. The handset will retail for $400. [via]

Fourteen independent Windows Mobile experts selected Opera Mobile as the winner in the all-important Internet Browser category in the 2007 Best Software Awards. All providers and developers of mobile Internet technology and applications have been analyzed by a judging panel of experts from the wireless community. Among main competitors there also count ThunderHawk and Skweezer, both highly evolved applications.
The greatest advantage that made judges choose Opera Mobile over all other competing softwares is that it resembled most of all the features and advantages that desktop browsers have to offer their users. Moreover, it’s a perfect match with mobile devices running on Windows Mobile. The software is currently being used by some of the leading handset producers, such as Sony Ericsson, Motorola, HTC, KDDI, Kyocera and many others. This preference should also account as recognition for the browser’s quality, although the official award is just as good as it gets.
