iHome iH82
iHome prepares a new accessory for iPod, this product called iHome iH82, stereo for iPod speakers. Based on the existing iH80, the base of the unit is essentially the same, but with an entirely optional second speaker for louder, stereo sound. Crucially, the extra speaker does not require its own power supply; it instead takes its power from the dock speaker, You can run the speakers off a wall adapter or eight C-cell batteries housed solely in the main speaker, and dock your iPod on top with adjacent and included Infrared remote controls. The dock itself supports fourth- and fifth-generation iPods along with minis, nanos and shuffles. An infrared remote comes standard. iHome has yet to announce pricing or a release date for the set. Mondo iPod's Speaker
The Korean company Mondo Systems has released a speaker system for the iPod, an add-on that might cost you more than you paid for the media player itself.

Even so, at about $350, the Mondo Mint Digital Music Station is an excellent sound system for music aficionados on a budget.

The Mondo Mint has two separate speakers, a small gray amplifier with push-button controls, and a wireless iPod dock with a range of about 100 feet, for streaming audio.

ASD-3N
Denon at its special event has revealed the AS-3 series of Network-Enabled clients. Two docks — the Ethernet-only ASD-3N and 802.11g-based ASD-3W — connect to any receiver, stereo, or TV set to stream audio and video from the user’s local network; a remote control navigates tracks, and on TV setups provides a visual menu for browsing content. Dockable iPods can also attach through a special slot to share their media separately from other devices. The system recognizes metadata such as album artwork and doesn’t rely on Denon AV equipment as the destination, the company says.

The ASD-3N arrives first due to its simpler networking features and will sell for $180 in August. Adding Wi-Fi to the ASD-3W places its release in September, when it will sell for $230. [via]

C1iP
Sony released a pair of docking iPod stereo systems. The C1iP (pictured) clock radio both plays the music from most of Apple’s digital players and uses the devices for an alarm function, waking owners up to either an iPod’s music or the more familiar AM/FM radio and buzzer options. Its wireless remote controls the iPod’s menu system as well as the radio itself. Sony plans to ship black and white versions of the C1iP in August for $100. (more…)
