ASUS revealed full details of the P735, the new flagship in its P series of smartphones. The 2.8-inch LCD dominating the front provides extra room for the relatively new addition of Windows Mobile 6, which brings in simple Excel, PowerPoint, and Word editing. It also provides expansive room for web browsing with a faster variant on UMTS mobile Internet that sustains 384Kbps, including during uploads. The addition lets ASUS install a front video camera and is accompanied by 802.11g Wi-Fi that fills the gaps when indoors.
Most of ASUS’ other trademark features port over from earlier Windows Mobile 5 devices, such as a business card reader that translates shots from the 2-megapixel rear camera into contact information, and the Remote Presenter feature that controls and views PowerPoint slides from a nearby, Bluetooth-equipped PC. The P735 opts for miniSD cards for storage and doubles as a media player with AAC, MP3, and WMA support.

The Korean company brings new Bluetooth headsets which will bring visual information to its user right on an evolved display. Mobile phone users will be able to read the text messages that they receive as well as the titles of the songs from their playlist. Information is displayed under the form of icons and text, which makes it extremely convenient for easy navigation.
The advantages that such a technology brings are huge. It actually brings the handiest solution for receiving basic information from the mobile phone without having to open it. The Bluetooth headsets will always be at reach and control is done through a simple joystick button.
The MEMS display makes it easier for people to use their mobile phones much efficiently. Having quick access to the information stored on their devices and fast commands, they do not have to use the handset all that much. “With the delivery of the industry’s first direct view MEMS displays, we are providing technology that enables mobile devices to be used in more environments and for more hours per charge, thereby enhancing consumers’ user experience”, said Dr. John Batey, vice president and general manager of QUALCOMM MEMS Technologies.

A device like this used to rub me the wrong way. I used to think that the whole idea of the shrinking MP3 player was to emphasize its tininess and that any set of speakers or headphones that dwarfed that iPod, iRiver, Zune, or whatever you choose as your brand name was a step backward. Why on earth would you buy a size-of-your-palm DAP and then surround it with speakers that would be right at home in a home theater? I don’t think that anymore, which is why I rather like the look of the iFreePlay, the latest incarnation of sound-extenders from Monster, which has made quite a career out of manufacturing iPod accessories.
These arguably work better than their nano counterparts, though, since you can control the shuffle pretty easily without actually eyeballing it. While cheaper than some other “wireless” setups, $50 seems a bit high. More eyeCandy after the jump. [via]

Leave it to Brando to upgrade its fine line of chintzy multicard readers yet again, this time adding an additional three cards to its mile long compatibility list and throwing in a USB 2.0 hub as well. Of course, we’ve already seen the unit acquire Bluetooth and rave lights, but the latest edition doubles as a Bluetooth dongle and provides an extra two USB 2.0 ports to daisy chain your favorite USB-powered gadgetry to your PC.
It’s a plug-and-play 55-in-1 card reader, which reads any kind of storage or memory card that you can think of (and then some). It also has multiple USB hubs and a Bluetooth dongle that can give that functionality to a PC or laptop that doesn’t have it. The reader also changes color when it’s on.

Creative now made clear its ambitions by introducing the Zen Stone, its first completely screenless music player and the first aimed at beating the second-generation iPod shuffle. Claiming to be even simpler than the Apple device, the Stone is loaded through drag-and-drop file transfers. It’s also more intelligent, Creative says: the device can recognize folders and will let the owner skip between them to limit in-order or random play to a particular album or playlist. Music is supported in MP3, WMA, and WAV as well as Audible audiobooks.
The Stone comes with 1GB of storage and will ship in six different colors by May 14th at a price of $40; it should be followed in July by the TravelSound Zen Stone (also $40), a black- or white-colored portable speaker system which provides stereo music for 20 hours on a pair of AAA batteries. Accessories will include a silicone skin with a built-in clip to match the portability of its iPod rival, a keychain case attachment, and an armband. [via]
