Blackberry devices, much like Nokia cell phones, have traditionally been named using a set of four numbers. That changed with the arrival of the Pearl and now it’s happening again. The Blackberry 8300 has officially been rechristened as the Blackberry Curve, lovingly rounding out their collection of handhelds with more consumer-friendly names.
The makers of the upcoming Blackberry 8300 who owned the domain Blackberry8300.com have also snatched up the domain BlackberryCurve.com, which the first one now directs to. The Blackberry, which has been an object of obssession for the business set for years, is seeking out an expanded user base. The Blackberry Curve is set to meld the business and consumer worlds of the Blackberry. Nice. I kind of like this new naming system. [via]

Creative has upped the quality of speakers for the iPod with the launch of its dedicated Creative X-Fi Sound System.
The mini home Hi-Fi system is designed to bring back the quality of music that may get lost in MP3 conversion, restoring it to a top sound. The set comes with two-way satellite speakers, each with a large 3.5-inch driver and soft dome tweeter.
This system is more hi-end with its price tag of $600 but with what is promised a crisp, clear, restoration of sound for digital audio files - it would be worth it.
The device comes with wireless IR remote controls to adjust the speakers, player functions and the X-Fi effects. The speakers come as 35 Watts RMS per channel (2 channels) and a 130-Watts RMS subwoofer.
The X-Fi Sound System has been designed for iPods with no further MP3 players in mind, although adapters will be able to help plug them in to the system. [via]

Motorola has Unveils a new mobile phone to their RAZR family by announcing the Maxx V1100, slim clamshell with average features.
How long from now Motorola will keep on releasing RAZR phones without really improving anything remains unknown. But it looks like the original RAZR was such a huge success, that all phones based on it (upgraded versions) seem to still be appealing for customers, despite them all coming with the same old design.
The Maxx V1110 comes with pretty much the same specs as the Vodafone exclusive V1100, namely HSDPA, a 1.3 megapixel camera, secondary VGA camera for video calling and Bluetooth with stereo headset support. The handset also features a pretty large speaker on the bottom part.
Along with the Maxx V1110, Moto has also launched the L72 SLVR, which is an update for the L7, coming in the same ultra-thin 11.7 mm package but bringing several improvements such as HSDPA, a 2 megapixel camera with zoom and autofocus, as well as a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion that will provide more storage space for music and photos.

The phone with “banana style” design was Motorola’s MOTORIZR Z8, known as the world’s first kick slider phone and introduced in February this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Recently, LG, the mobile phone manufacturer that won no less than 29 awards at this year’s red dot Design Awards has announced a handset that’s similar as shape, coming in a very interesting banana-like slider form factor and a several multimedia capabilities.
This phone’s special design proves that anything can be expected from the manufacturer that came up with so many well-selling, highly popular phones like the Chocolate, Shine and Prada.
The similarity between the shape of the phone and a banana is not at all a coincidence. The handset was designed that way to be more ergonomic and provide better handling. It comes in a quite pleasant white, with orange accents, color version (frequently used by Sony Ericsson for their music phone line). While its shape will make the phone stand out among other handsets, its features are slightly unimpressive, especially for the Asian market.
